The purity of wood in our untreated mass timber product is possible with the simple ingenuity of wooden dowels. With Holz100, we want to surround you in nothing other than healthy wood when building. Indoor air quality is vital considering the fact that we spend up to 90% of our time indoors with exposure to various paints, sealants, electromagnetic radiation, and VOC off gases from adhesives, as well as noise and sound pollution from HVAC systems. We are constantly bombarded with invisible ailments.

Many features and benefits exist to take advantage of the Holz100 potential including its unique moonwood properties that provide a natural resistance to mold and condensation: 1. Safety and Performance 2. Thermal Performance 3. Reduced Structural Weight 4. Speed of Construction 5. Environmental Impact 6. Biophilic Design & Health Benefits What started as a quest to find the culprit of an unexpected asthma attack, has become a pioneering movement towards building healthier families and communities with untreated wood. With a wider awareness for sustainability, life-cycle impact assessment, and mass timber construction, Holz100 finds opportunities to make a difference by focusing on a health and well-being that pushes the boundaries of wood construction. Holz100 is a large panelized pure solid wood construction that is cross laminated without glue; it is friction fit with the use of beech wood dowels. Although made of wood, Holz100 has a completely different structure to conventional wood frame construction. The mass size of Holz100 in comparison, takes advantage of the inherent fire resistance of heavy timber. In the event of a fire, the surface layers char and act as sacrificial or insulating layers against the onset of heat to the inner layers of wood. There are no glues, chemical adhesives, or toxic chemicals. This means there is no fuel to ignite the fire or risk of premature delamination as a result of reduced strength in adhesive at rising temperatures during a fire. The moonwood used to manufacture Holz100 chars at a predictable rate of 0.5-0.7mm/min according to EN 13501-1. The European standard in high-tech woodblock and frame buildings (with normal, average wall, ceiling and roof thicknesses) is maximal F30. This means that the building element resists a flame at 1,000 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. Holz100 elements reached top ratings of up to F180! This means six times safer than the usual reinforced concrete or stud structured brick walls offer. The ceiling ratings are even better. The Venlo City Hall is the first public Cradle to Cradle whole building design in the Netherlands. The building delivers a positive contribution and focuses on the following themes: (people, planet, profit) to promote a healthy work environment and by utilizing sustainable innovations. |
