Once the installation is complete as well as its finishing touches such as cladding, exterior design, and installation of windows and doors, you will be able to enter your new home, office, hotel, etc. that is made significantly better in every single way with the branding of Holz100. We are not just a label, but make sure that every single one of our Thoma Holz100 buildings live up to the highest standards of build, and everyday living. -- Thoma Holz100 Canada Building the world's healthiest living spaces with the highest standards. No VOC, no glue/nails, no chemicals. Made of 100% pure wood. The branches of these trees, although seemingly small, as the tree is harvested the moisture by nature is sucked out of the main trunk of the tree and into its branches. Gravity also has a huge role in this as it aids the tree in its process by pulling the last traces of moisture and sap to its branches. The remaining step then, before they are brought to manufacturing in our mills – is to cut out the branches once fully dried.
The way that Holz100 timber is naturally dried, it allows for the timber to attain a significantly decreased amount of warping and cracking in its characteristic in the process of drying. In order to do so, their stems are propped up so that the tree’s bark and branches can let gravity work its magic in gathering all the tree’s moisture through its bark and branches. This certainly is the most simple yet time-proven process of natural wood drying.
After harvesting of our moonwood, the way we dry the wood is also a completely natural process without the use of drying machines or kilns to prevent warping or cracking of wood – one which naturally results in a lesser quality. Thoma Holz100 trees are left to dry naturally in the forest without removing their side branches, bark, and crown of the tree as they are all required to pull the remaining moisture out of the wood’s core.
That is why installation ducts for HVAC, electrical wiring, and plumbing are all cut out by our manufacturers and milled in one of our many factories. On site, these milled grooves can be replaced with higher visual qualities in any sizing desired. They are completed and worked on within surface layers so that they are not visible from the outside. Our prefabrication of walls will certainly save time and cost in installation requirements as well.
After the manufacturing process - comes the matter of assembly. The assembly of Thoma Holz100 favourably includes the planning of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC installations pre-cut into the prefabricated walls and floors. It is standard in our case to include and have them milled beforehand, the grooves required for instant installation into the core layers of Holz100 components.
This method of connecting the various laminated wooden boards ensure that there is absolutely no toxin or chemicals that are used in the making of Thoma Holz100. Often, especially in the case of CLT – synthetic glues, resins, or nails are used which either cause problems through their toxicity or rust and therefore stability of the building system in the long run. At the end of this manufacturing process is a solid wood wall made of 100% pure wood.
The wooden dowels used to connect the entire building system of Thoma Holz100 are all mechanically compressed and dust-dried, which are hydraulically pressed into designated locations throughout the grid. Once they are pressed in, they become moist by absorbing the humidity that surrounds it which is inhibited in the Holz100 wood. As they absorb the moisture and expand, it becomes completely non-detachable.
During the winter months, and specifically days before the new moon, the levels of sap in trees are at their lowest of the whole year. It is crucial to harvest wood at this specific time as it is the most natural and simple way of protecting timber from mold, fungus, and insects. Not only does its durability increase, it also makes it superior in its quality, no use of preservatives or fire retardants, long-lasting and much reduced in warping, cracking, or splitting of wood.
It is important for us to not only produce green and environmentally friendly products as a building system, but to also ensure that our resources, tools, and manufacturing are also all done with the highest consideration for the sustainability of nature. Nowadays, people forget to question where the product that they purchase comes from, their effects on people on the environment in the processing stage, and how they are manufactured.
The manufacturing is done in one of our many plants scattered across Austria and/or Germany – one of which produces more energy than it uses. Our carefully harvested wood is brought to be made into wooden boards that are cross laminated in three different angles: vertically, horizontally, and diagonally in which are all connected to a stable central core. The component which connects and attaches all these boards are wooden dowels set as a raster.
We have ensured that the forests that we harvest from are resourced properly and responsibly – the next step is the harvesting of these trees. The way that we harvest our timber is also quite special, to say the least. We call it moonwood harvesting, which is a traditional method carried by many cultures for thousands of years – it is the practice of felling trees only in the winter months as this is when trees are hibernating.
Holz100 Canada Inc. only uses wood that are entirely certified by two well-known organizations: FSC / Forest Stewardship Council and PEFC / Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. Both ensure that our wood comes only from forests managed responsibly and meet high social and environmental standards. These certifications also ensure that our timber is produced with respect to high ecological and ethical standards as well.
