Question:
We are very interested in your product and would like to know how much it costs to build with Holz100. How much does it cost per square feet?
Response:
The most common question we get is what is the cost per square footage? It is very difficult to tell you outright what the cost per square footage of a holz100 house will be, there are many factors that have to be considered. Simply put, it depends on the volume of wood required for the build. The factors that can contribute to the varying costs of a holz100 house include exterior wall elements, interior wall elements, as well as roof elements and openings. Our system varies in thickness, depending on your design requirements which will contribute to the overall volume of wood used. For example, the cost of a 17cm wall system will be less than the cost using our 36.4cm wall system
The following is an assessment of how much volume of wood is required to build a Holz100 house of the same square footage but of different styles. We have chosen to keep the same interior layout and changed only the roof design for ease of comparison.
Design Variations of Model 1A Floor Plan
The table provides a breakdown of the building volume and holz100 wood required for each house design proposed. We have taken a further step in showing the volume of wood required for a 17cm wall thickness versus a 36.4cm wall thickness in order to provide insight on the variance of cubic wood required for the individual building envelop designs.

As you can see, the volume of wood varies with each of the proposed design of the same square footage and interior layout. The factors that contribute to this include exterior wall elements, interior wall elements, as well as roof elements and openings. To better assist with the feasibility cost of your project basic design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and sections would be reviewed.
With the holz100 prefabricated wall, roof, and ceiling/floor elements, the rough in routes for electrical can be milled into the panels at the factory for a seamless interior finish. If more rough in routes are required or larger openings for windows are desired, contingencies need to be included to the overall construction budget to account for these additional cuts and/or labour for modifications on site, as well as contingencies for structural beams/lintels for openings that may require additional reinforcement. |
Holz100 Advantage
At the end of the day, the upfront cost of a holz100 system compared to the costs of a wood-framed house will result in the same construction cost for a standard custom home. Our product requires little to no interior finishing. With Holz100, the interior side of the system can be left unfinished once installed, therefore, saving you time and money. Design and planning are completed at the onset of the project, which means a safer construction site with less waste and hassle.
