The spruce is one of the most beautiful type of trees in the winter. Found in cooler climates, spruce trees can grow up to fifty meters at locations that are favorable in condition. For our forests, the spruce brings numerous benefits which open up possibilities. Known as a tree of longevity, it also climbs its way to the top in high mountain ranges and finds home with its roots. Although not a pioneering tree, it makes its home along with other species.

As you can see from the characteristics that the oak tree exemplifies, such as endurance, willpower, and perseverance, it directly translates to a natural raw building material with the same characteristics. When oak wood is used for flooring, finishing, or for any other purpose, it brings any building a strong pure, raw energy. This invaluable tree will be important to those who desire to create and built large projects such as high wooden spaces.
Due to the enormous power that the Oak exemplifies, it also inhibits an incredible amount of stability and a stark presence among trees. With many oak trees aging over a thousand years old, they are left with a huge responsibility of preserving its fellow community in its span of time. More so than any other tree, it is powerful, heavier, harder, and permanent. It’s no wonder they are called powerful tree giants.
If we were to think of only one word to represent the oak tree, it would be power. Its root system is layered into two parts, where the first layer is flat-rooted and the second layer deep in the earth used to secure itself several meters deep into the ground. With the first layer right beneath the surface, it is able to use the first warmth from the sun at the break of spring, as well as the oxygen and water that seeps into the earth.
Between extremes, the Ash tree also combines them into an approach which proves to be prudent of its past and future. As the ash tree represents prudence, awareness in mind and consistency – it all teaches us to become responsible for our actions and also to act deliberately. When the other types of trees such as the oak become too harsh or rigid, the ash tree is a wonderful choice to those who find rest in its constant stillness.
For example, the ash trees grow with an incredible speed and cannot easily settle in soils like the alder and birch – however it grows its roots firmly into the earth right after. Ash trees also grow very tall and lush in its branches up to thirty meters! Unlike its predecessors such as the alder tree and the birch tree, ash trees can live to be several hundred years old. With those years and deep heart root resulting in durable and tough wood, it joins the powerful trees.
Thoma Holz100 Canada Inc. supports ecohomes, passive houses, and green buildings made of sustainable and nontoxic wood. That’s why the types of wood that we make available are all of high quality and the tree species available for the main building system ideal for its structural requirements. The ash particularly is very well balanced between the extremes and give them an edge over many other trees.
The pine tree species is significant to building a sustainable wood home, as it is consistent in its shape and form for decades – even centuries. Not only does the tree symbolize endurance and longevity, but even as a natural building material, it helps our minds to turn to positive thinking and restore us with the joys of life once again. With her versatility, she even prides herself with her victory over the most difficult conditions of life.
Even when the soil becomes very much barren, it becomes the pioneer of the conifers. If there was ever a tree which started it all, and also the last one standing in such desolate lands, the pine would most likely be that tree. Although spruce and fir trees are of the same conifer family, they would not be able to endure through such harsh conditions. That’s why great pine forests are known to extend to the north as far as they can.
Thoma Holz100 uses only raw, pure wood for our building materials. One of our popular tree species is the pine, which as a tree is known for its strength, endurance, and longevity as the oldest pine tree on earth is aged over five thousand years. Even under extreme circumstances such as cold or hot climates, it survives through its capacity to hold amounts of water and moisture for long lengths of time.
Another version of our Thoma Holz100 finishing products is siding and paneling. They are air-dried, available in wood types of larch, fir, and spruce. Their quality can either be planed and profiled which means they are smooth edged, made for weather protection with cuff profiles, and finally is equipped with tongue and groove with chamfers. The other available quality is called the rough cut, which gives much more versatility in widths, lengths, and thicknesses.
For internal paneling, our wood is particularly chamber-dried, with the wood types consisting of spruce, fir, larch, or swiss stone pine. Our lengths can vary from 1 meter to 5 meter, which can be varied by design and desire. They are lateral with tongue and grove, 40mm as per DIN; standardized fire-resistant formwork. Internal paneling produced by Holz100 have thicknesses of 18mm, for ideal paneling functions.
Their dimensions also include thicknesses of 30, 50, 80mm. Upon request, they may be made 40 or 60mm thick. Our finishing materials are also special in that we are exclusive in how we cut our finishing materials from secondary tree trunk parts and butt logs. Once again, our wood has been harvested at an ideal time and place for the highest quality of wood to be made available for your new home.
Unlike the Thoma Holz100 building system, our finishing materials have much more variety in the types of wood available. Even including the rare pear tree, walnut tree, and cherry tree, other types in all include elm, locust, linden, pine, swiss stone pine, larch, birch, ash, fir, beech, oak, and spruce. These will come in dimensions of 2-5 meters in length, widths which are but logs of untrimmed goods.
There is a reason why we believe that moonwood is most certainly a natural building material – wood, in its absolute best possible form. The extensive and particular process of harvesting, manufacturing, and handling that we perform at Thoma Holz100 guarantees not just the quality of wood, but also all of the benefits that come along with it. Its endurance, its long-lasting qualities, and strength are all which are ensured.
We always recommend that not only the main house envelope be made of Thoma Holz100, but the finishing touches and the façade be made of our superior Holz100 building material as well. Moonwood makes a very strong and durable façade, as longevity and durability of any wood is incredibly important to the standards and physical function of any framework. Why should such amazing green homes be covered in sub-par materials?
Even without the use of chemicals or preservatives, the same buildings that our ancestors have erupted with their hands have lasted more than five hundred years of age. It is simply incredible and breathtaking to know that these ancient monuments or buildings made of pure wood still stand to this day after all those years of habitation, weathering, etc. This is why we must continue to use timber as a sustainable building material.
As a result of our specific and sustainable work processes when it comes to working with wood, the timber becomes smooth, long lasting, and exhibit a movement that is very low or non-existent. What is our method? It is to produce timber construction that lasts for decades and conforms to the traditions of wood craftsmen in which our structures made of wood were made by our wise ancestors.
As our trees are grown in a location predetermined for their ideal growth, the timber that we produce for construction is very specifically tightly grained. Sourced by sub-alpine spruces and firs, our timber exhibit a very beautiful and particular direction of grain due to this. Not only are our trees harvested at an exclusive place, it is also harvested at the right time. It is very hard nowadays to find this quality of wood.
